A Poem by Ann David Naeger SL

A poem by Ann David Naeger Thoughts given to how like life quilt making is... Taking colors in hand to choose, held to the light, placed together to consider companionableness patterns arranged, though about, looked at in stillness, felt for rightness, rearranged. Cut up pieces of material to be sown back together, not so much for warmth but more just for pretty. No weight given to the long hours alone with tiny stiches; cramped thimble-bearing fingers; complaining arm and shoulder muscles; fatigued-filled eyes, but only with how like life quilt making is.. Taking small pieces of relationships and experiences to arrange, to plan to consult and to adjust over time and space to make a life of warmth and color-tinted memories to cherish in preciousness. Considering mistakes made in both quilt making and life making... No need to point out mistakes to another quilt maker, who will see and understand anyway. No need to remind God, who has life held in sacred forgiveness from the first stitch of conception need only to complete both quilt and life in love and thankfulness.
