Pope Francis’ theme for 2025 and the heart of Catholic Sisters Week is ”Pilgrims of Hope.” It fits very well with the mission statement of the Sisters of Loretto and women religious everywhere. Sisters have always been pilgrims and seekers; searchers and spreaders of hope. You would find Sisters in the classroom, hospital rooms, colleges and universities, parishes and Newman Centers, soup kitchens and immigration offices. Did we make a difference? Absolutely! Do we continue to do so? You bet!

The full name of the Congregation of the Sisters of Loretto includes the words “At the Foot of the Cross.” Standing there gives us a viewpoint to see our suffering sisters and brothers in many stages of need. One just needs to read the papers to see the worldwide effect of war, poverty, hunger and disease. Sisters stand at the side of those suffering and always will. We believe that this is the way of the Gospel – Pilgrims of Hope – sisters to so many.

During this season of Lent, we are called to reflect on the three pillars of Lenten discipline: prayer, fasting and giving. Lent is a particularly good time for all of us to open our hearts and consider a gift to Loretto. Whether you or a loved one were taught by the Sisters, worked alongside them at your parish, benefited from their leadership on a committee, or stood with them at a foodbank or elsewhere serving others, now is the perfect time to give back.

We joyfully celebrated the 200th anniversary in 2024 of Loretto’s presence at the Motherhouse. As we continue to cherish all the blessings God has bestowed upon us, we invite you to join us in expressing our thanks to God for the gifts we have been given. We extend our heartfelt thanks to you, our donors, for your generosity. Thank you for helping us continue our mission of service and love. If you wish to continue or join in supporting Loretto during Lent, Catholic Sisters Week or anytime, you can do so on our Donate page.
