Loretto Catholic School in Douglas to hold centennial celebration Saturday

The Loretto Catholic School in Douglas is celebrating its 100th year this month.

The centennial celebration will be commemorated on Saturday, September 21 with a 5 p.m. mass inside Saint Luke’s Parish on 15th Street in Douglas. Afterwards there will be a celebration on the school grounds which will include mariachi music, a disc jockey, finger foods and light beverages.

Loretto Catholic School first opened in Douglas in 1924 and throughout its history has been under the leadership of the Sisters of Loretto, the Sisters of St. Dominic of Adrian, and the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Today it’s under the direction of the Diocese of Tucson.
