Loretto Responds to the Gospel Call for 210 Years: One Journey to Everywhere

Followers of Jesus have responsibilities, and if they are smart they never do them alone. Loretto has been graced by God to become a community on pilgrimage. We have walked together and believed in each other on every journey we have undertaken. On pilgrimage. Following God’s call. Together.

Join with Loretto this week as we celebrate 210 years of service! It will be a great journey! You may ask: where have they been and where are they going? That’s a great question. Where have we been for 210 years? Everywhere we could go… and go…and go.

Members of Loretto stand on holy ground, made so by the people and places we serve. God hallows the ground under our feet and makes it all God’s saving work. We are stronger because we belong to each other. “Holy Ground” is a life-saving place of rootedness in each member of Loretto and in God’s call to our next venture. God speaks, and we listen to the cries of the people.

The following prayer will be prayed this year on April 25, Loretto’s Foundation Day. Wherever you are, please pray it with us.

Let us pray:

O God of all knowing, You know, that following Jesus takes us into the mystery of your life

You know, when it is time to shake the dust off our feet and walk on in mission

You know, that being rooted in the Gospel gives Loretto the grace to hear the cries of earth

You know, when it is time to be together, for us to listen, to talk, and to remember

You know, that the experience of community gives us the joy and the energy to enter the community of the heart that makes us one

You know, as we journey from the Knobs of Kentucky to the Pakistani land that we are ready to rise anew each day

You know, when it is time for us to serve, to be out the door, around the corner and into the sunlight.

O God of all knowing – You know. And we know, because of You.
