This week: Loretto and Land Justice Futures. What Loretto is learning and what research is being done by members of our focus team. Follow along on the web post and social media!

The Loretto Land Justice Team of 2022-2024 has just transitioned into the Loretto Land Justice Committee of 2025-2029. And the work continues without a break: For two properties, in Kansas and in Texas, the team/committee is charged with studying the history, current status and future possibilities of use and ownership. We will be reporting through the Midweek Mission Message on our progress.

This week we are happy to introduce new friends and potential partners in Kansas, the Kansas Black Farmers Association (KBFA).

Two of our committee members have been getting to know this organization and its president, JohnElla Holmes, for the past year. In January, Eleanor Craig traveled to Manhattan, Kan., to attend the quarterly meeting of the membership of KBFA as they gathered with their allies and donors at the College of Agriculture at Kansas State University. Eleanor had a chance to introduce in a general way what partnership could mean to them and to Loretto (see video below) and we came away with deepened appreciation of the organization and its work. More coming soon on progress in Kansas and news of the Texas property near El Paso.

Questions or comments? Feel free to contact any of the five members of the Loretto Land Justice Committee: Kathleen Corbett, Eleanor Craig, Carole Eschen, Anna Koop, Mary Margaret Murphy.
