Gaetana (Gay) Lenox had a recent change in life. In 2013 she had a stroke that paralyzed her, leaving her without speech. It did not daunt her spirit, and her husband Jim Lenox cared for her at home. He now has had to move Gay to the Shreveport, La., Garden Park Nursing and Rehab Center, a positive move. Jim writes, “The smile for which she’s famous is like a powered magnet.” She attends performances at the center, frequents the chapel, participates in activities and attends art classes, where she has taught herself to use her left hand to work with colored pencils. Her talent with stitchery and quilting shines through. The spiritual group, Jubilees, founded by friends Rose Marie Clark and Lillian Moskeland, meets monthly in the activity room at the center facilitating Gay’s attendance. She is reading Richard Rohr’s latest book, Little Women, and Interchange. The rehab director shares Gay’s advice, “Decide to listen to God and follow your heart.” Gay would love to hear how Loretto is doing at 9111 Linwood Ave, Shreveport, LA 71105, and she may even answer using her new tablet.
