The journey of Lent has brought us to the story of Moses’ wonderful imagination of seeing God through the burning bush. The bush was not losing its leaves! What a mystery of light experienced by Moses. And then, just to be sure Moses got it, God says to him, “Moses come over here, stand on holy ground, and listen to my name. I AM who am. This is my name forever: I Am. Go and tell all the people.” For Moses and us, this is a story of our relationship with God. It is all about faithful love that lasts forever.
And what have we learned from this burning bush, this light that never grows dim? God is timeless, changeless, eternal and the life of all that has been created. “I AM.” Yes, God says “I AM forever in you. I AM your life energy, your wisdom, your freedom. See me in yourself and in every created being, plant and animal. My Spirit is everywhere bringing you everlasting love.” This Lent, let the kingdom of God shine through you. Share this light and grace with others.
Would you like to go to a holy place where the light of God shines? Welcome to Loretto Motherhouse. You likely won’t find a burning bush, but you will find the love of God in all you see there. You will find a vibrant energy inside and out. You will find the beauty of every building, sparkling with cleanliness and joy. You will meet staff who care about their work, conscious of every person and place on the property. As you walk there, join us all in gratitude for the labor of so many who connect themselves to the beauty of creation: farmland and lakes; wooded paths for retreatants; a spotless Loretto Living Center, home for the infirm; buildings and paths which hold the promise of peace. You will be welcomed by this Community living in Kentucky. Walk slowly there in beauty all around you. Not a burning bush to be seen but a place filled with the fire Moses saw. Come visit at night, you will see the stars shine upon our land with the light of God’s glory. The Motherhouse, a place “in which we live and move and have our being.” You are most welcome!
This week on our Facebook page, see how our Motherhouse shines!
